1. Open the Mitel Connect app on your desktop by clicking the Mitel Connect icon on your taskbar
  2. If you don’t see the icon on your taskbar:
    • Type Mitel Connect in the Search window
    • Click Pin to Taskbar so it’s there next time you log in
    • Click Open
  3. In the Mitel Connect app, click on your name/extension in the upper left
  4. Under Primary Assignment, select External Assignment Number, another dialog box will open
  5. Add the Number to which you’d like your calls forwarded
    • In Add Label field, enter a name for the number (e.g. Cell)
    • In Add Number field, enter the (10- digit) area code and phone number
    • Enter the Number of Rings if you want to change it from the default of 6 (choose between 1 – 20 rings)
    • Select the drop down marked “Press 1 to connect” and change it to “Automatically connect
    • Click Add
  6. Your incoming calls will now be forwarded to the number you’ve chosen! You may want to ask someone to call your work phone number to test that it is working properly.
  7. While your office phone is forwarded to your personal phone, please note that your personal device is effectively just a handset; you will perform all functions, such as placing or transferring a call, using the Mitel Connect application on your desktop.
    • When placing an outbound call in External Assignment Number mode, pressing the green Dial icon will cause Mitel Connect to first call your cell phone; when you answer, it will proceed with placing the call to the person you are dialing.
      • Note: Caller ID features are not a function of Mitel Connect, but of your personal device and your local provider (for instance, callers not in your personal Contact List may show up as Potential Spam).
    • For further instructions for using Mitel Connect, please refer to the Connect Client QRG_updated_2018 located in Public Folders > All Public Folders > Phone List and Instructions.
  8. To switch back to your desk phone, simply click Desk Phone in the Primary Assignment window
  9. When complete, minimize your Mitel Connect window by clicking on the dash to the left of the X in the upper right-hand corner, and it will reside in your taskbar until you need it again.
